thejapannews– Spanx founder Sara Blakely has announced that the company will give every employee two first-class plane tickets to travel anywhere in the world, as well as $10,000 each to spend on their trips.
In a video, she said, “I really want every employee to celebrate this moment in their own way and create a memory that will last them a lifetime.”
After recalling how she earlier set a goal of making her company into a $20 million business, she said, “Everybody laughed at me, but I really believed that.”
Over 20 years later, Spanx, an underwear company focused on shapewear, is now valued at $1.2B, according to Business Wire.
Global investment firm Blackstone also recently bought a majority stake in the company.
Blakely’s post on Instagram has been viewed over one million times and received many comments.
“So inspired by you and what you created and the women you have impacted along the way, Sara,” said former professional football player Lewis Howes.
When asked about their preferred destinations, Spanx employees mentioned countries and regions, such as Croatia, South Africa and Antarctica.
In a previous post, Blakely said, “I am eternally grateful to the customers, employees both past and present, vendors, retailers, friends and family who stood by me while I took the leap.”
“After meeting with the all-female deal team, I knew they were the right partners to grow our mission and scale our purpose,” she added.
In 2012, Blakely was named the youngest self-made billionaire by Forbes Magazine.
The company currently offers leggings, clothing, activewear, maternity wear and other products.
