Sinead OConnor, also known as Shuhada Davitt, has deactivated her Twitter account as a result of unwanted stalking.

It was all quite sudden.

The singer-songwriter, who recently converted to Islam, tweeted: Gonna deactivate this account in half an hour. Due to unwanted stalking by certain dubious characters. Thanks for the fun and love.

Especially to my Ummah [community]. I love you with all my heart and soul. And voice.

Fans have been supportive, although some have been pleading with her to stay on social media.

Im really sorry that you have to do this, one wrote. Be bold and proud and just block those AHs You have every right to be on Twitter without having to hide your identity.

It comes after she returned to Twitter to annoy the white supremacists.

After posting a shockingly rant in which she called white people disgusting, the 51-year-old suggested that she made the claims in order to get her account removed because f*****g idiots had been spamming her.

She declared: I decided to come back to Twitter as I love annoying the white supremacists that are now all over my page.

Explaining her previous posts, Sinead said: I dont really hate white people, its just the way I see it is Twitter would close my account if I said I did because they closed my account for saying I dont like nuns murdering babies in Ireland.

She added: I was rather hoping they would close my page if I said I hated white people. But they didnt.
