One happy couple received a priceless wedding gift on Saturday, when Sir Paul McCartney photobombed their official pictures.

The Beatles singer was enjoying a relaxing cycle ride in Winnipeg, Canada on the weekend when he cycled past the couple, who were getting a photographer to take pictures after their ceremony.

Paul, who was in town for a concert, rode by and passed on his congratulations but groom Steve Gregg has now revealed that the 76-year-old and his bouncers hit a dead end and had to pass back past the couple, giving Steve the chance to ask for a picture.

It was very brief, he shook our hands, said congratulations took a couple quick photos and then they were off, he told CBC.

But luckily for his new bride Jen, Steve knew that something else topped the once-in-a-lifetime picture.

This was a nice thing on a day filled with wonderful events, Steve said.

Paul is not the first – and certainly wont be the last – celeb to photobomb a wedding shoot.

In August, JK Rowling left a Scottish couple dumbfounded when posed for pictures with the loved-up pair outside Prestonfield House, in Edinburgh where Rowling was believed to be having a spot of lunch.

Adam Sandler and Tom Hanks have also both taken pictures with newlyweds after spotting them taking wedding snaps.
