If you have ever considered Cher or Meryl Streep as your hero now is your chance to add some more proof onto your list.
The pair – who are co-stars in Mama Mia! Here We Go Again – did a good deed in the earlier 80s that has us screaming Girl Power!
Basically, not all heroes wear capes.
In an interview on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Tuesday, Cher revealed that she and Meryl have been friends for decades, and once saved a woman from being assaulted almost 30 years ago.
Explaining how she had worries about walking around Meryls neighbourhood, she said: Meryl had just had [daughter] Mamie, and we were downtown in her old apartment, and she said, “I want some ice cream,” and I said. “OK.”
The Grammy winner continued: And so we walk out and the first thing we see is some guy hitting cars with a brick. And then we walk down the street and we hear screaming. And we come around the corner, and this gigantic man is ripping the clothes off of this girl….
Cher described how herself and her Silkwood co-star Meryl couldnt bear to run away and decided to face the situation head-on by running towards the man.
And it seems like their efforts worked as he left the woman alone – however, he began to run towards the pair.
Meryl starts screaming, and I start screaming, and we run toward this gigantic man and he turns and starts running toward us. And just out of, I dont know, we split and he ran through us, Cher recalled.
And so we went up to the girl, and all of her clothes were torn and she was clutching her bag.
After realising that she was saved by two very famous women the girl, also an actor could only think about one thing.
Cher said: She goes, “Oh my God! I was saved by Meryl Streep and Cher. Im an actress, and I work in a café where we sing, and all my friends are going to be so jealous.”
More: Meryl Streep
Cher is set to appear in the sequel to Mama Mia which follows on from the original movie.
We can hardly believe that it has been 10 years since the first film whisked us away to a magical Greek island where life was lived through ABBA songs.
As well as Meryl, many of the original cast members – Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth – will be making a return to the franchise.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is released in UK cinemas on 20 July 2018.
