For those of you who are intensely awaiting the return of Destiny’s Child at next year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival, get ready for some bad news: it’s not happening.
Sorry to be so blunt, but we felt it easier to just rip off the band aid.
While the internet was abuzz with rumours and gossip the ultimate trio of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams would be joining forces once again like they did at Super Bowl in 2013, Kelly has doused our excitement with a bucket of cold water.
Kelly in fact has claimed she has “no idea” about the proposed reunion at the festival, even asking a fan about it to try and get to the bottom of it all.
‘They used the L word and said legends,’ the 36-year-old told People.
‘I mean, I gladly accept that very much but it’s nothing that we recently talked about.’
Only five days ago we were losing our proverbial at the thought the girlgang would be getting back together to perform in front of a few thousand glittery, glistening punters who believe a bandana is suitable to wear as a top.
It wasn’t such a tall order either, seeing as Beyoncé pulled out of her headlining spot this year to, you know, give birth, promising she’ll be back in the top spot in 2018.
She promised, guys.
Adding fuel to the fire, last week the sleuths out there noticed Queen Bey uploaded a photo of herself wearing an AC/DC t-shirt, with only the DC bit showing – AKA Destiny’s Child.
Fun fact we’ll leave just here: AC/DC made their comeback at the festival in 2015.
Then Kelly asked fans what her Super Bowl outfit should be, with a, wait for it, bee emoji accompanying the caption. As if Kelly needs a hand knowing what to wear if she was just watching the game from her couch – no, she was definitely planning her stage attire.
Michelle was also feeling wistful and posted an image of her 2013 Super Bowl crashing outfit, just reminding everyone she was in fact there as well in 2013.
OG member LaTavia Jackson (yeah, you remember her…) added to the conspiracy theory, saying to no one in particular, ‘I have so much to tell you guys. All I’m allowed to say right now is…never mind’ while also sharing an old photo of the crew.
If that ‘so much’ isn’t about a reunion, then we don’t want to hear it.
The only silver lining in all of this is that while Kelly shattered our hopes and dreams and everything we’ve ever wanted, she announced she’s working on new solo material.
Guess that’ll have to do for now.
