Bobby Brown insists that drugs didn’t kill Whitney – a broken heart did

Although the star’s autopsy discovered traces of cocaine, marijuana and prescription medication in her system, her ex-husband Bobby Brown believes she died from a broken heart, rather than drugs. Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the Two Can Play that Game singer said: ‘I don’t think she died from drugs. Not at all. She was really working hard on herself to try to be a sober person. She was a great person.’ His current wife – and manager – Alicia Etheredge-Brown, was quick to point out that there ‘were drugs in her system’, but Bobby replied: ‘Well, I don’t think so.’ Bobby doesn’t believe Whitney died from drugs (Picture: Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage) Asked what he thought attributed her death, he responded to the publication: ‘Just being broken-hearted.’ Bobby and Whitney were married for 15 turbulent years, and ended up divorcing in 2007. The pair had one child together, a daughter named Bobbi Kristina who was born in 1993. Sadly she faced the same tragic fate as her own mother, and drowned in a bath, dying six months later aged 22. More: Whitney Houston Despite Brown leading a party lifestyle for much of his life, he has turned a new leaf and declared: ‘I’ve been clean from narcotics for 15 years.’ ‘When I think about it, it’s like, “Damn. I wasted so much time doing something that’s f*ing absolutely stupid”.’ Pressed on what he would tell his younger self now if he got the chance, he admitted: ‘Take your time. Don’t rush through life. Just say “no” when somebody tries to give you drugs or anything. Just say “no”.’ Got a story? Paul Gascoigne wells up on Loose Women as he reveals addiction to Calpol

Paul became very emotional (Picture: ITV/Rex) Paul Gascoigne has revealed how other addicts laughed at him as he was left addicted to Calpol. The 50-year-old former footballer has been hailed ‘the most naturally gifted English midfielder of his generation’ but since retiring from the game became an addict, mostly to alcohol. But he revealed on Loose Women that during the time when he gave up the booze, he realised he had more of an addictive personality than he first thought. ‘I wasn’t drinking and I sat there looking at the bottle of Calpol and it said 000.1% of alcohol and I thought “if I have 20 bottles it may kick in!” and so I got addicted,’ he said. ‘But that was embarrassing as when you go to rehab you have people in for this and that and they say, “what you in for?” and I said, “Calpol” and everyone started laughing.’ He was also addicted to laxatives and Red Bull: ‘Red Bull was horrific, I couldn’t get off that from the caffeine, I was drinking up to 30 cans a day.’ Gazza has had a tough few months (Picture: ITV) Known as Gazza, he also discussed how paparazzi would attempt to trick him to get a picture of the footballer drinking, including ‘leaving gin outside my door’. ‘I wasn’t thinking about it but I would pick it up and put it in the bin but they would take photos,’ he added. His last relapse was, he admits, over Christmas and that the death of his father made things harder. Apologising for nearly breaking down in tears, he revealed how he went back to rehab on 2 December as his father was unwell. Knowing my DAD I’m sure he would like me to show the fantastic times we spent together,he loved life I’m just very fortune to be his SON,plus he will probably be going mad with me for talking about him,the will to win,NO HE HAD THE”WANT”TO HAVE THE WILL TO WIN XX LOVE TO ALL x — Paul Gascoigne (@Paul_Gascoigne8) February 21, 2018 ‘When I spoke to him on the phone it wasn’t great, his sense of humour was great though, I said, “Dad you won’t pass away?’ and he said, “if I do I do but the way you’re going you won’t be far behind us”.’ ‘If I feel like a drink I ring my sponsor and have a meeting but this time I decided to make sure I was okay for him. I went in for a few weeks and then I went to see my dad and he was struggling… the way he was though, if he was going to pass away a drink would never bring him back anyway, and that’s what I was thinking all the time.’ MORE: Paul Gascoigne donates £1,000 to help girl whose voice machine was stolen Original Article [contf] [contfnew] METRO [contfnewc] [contfnewc]

The real-life Three Billboards stunts

An American street artist has become the latest party to co-opt the signage featured in Oscar-nominated drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The artist – known as Sabo – covered three Los Angeles billboards with red tarpaulins accusing the entertainment industry of covering up child abuse. One billboard read: "And the Oscar for biggest p[a]edophile goes to…", while another claimed: "We all knew." Another dares winners to "name names on stage or shut the hell up!" The signs, which appeared on Wednesday morning, were put up to coincide with the Academy Awards on Sunday. The stunt is the latest in a number of protests inspired by the billboards featured in Martin McDonagh's award-winning film. In Three Billboards, a bereaved mother puts up hoardings in an attempt to make her local sheriff devote more time to investigating her daughter's murder. The film's plot encouraged campaigning group Justice 4 Grenfell to create their own billboards calling for action following last year's Grenfell Tower fire. The banners were driven through central London earlier this month on the eight-month anniversary of the tower block blaze. Another action in New York circled the United Nations last week, demanding action on Syria in advance of a Security Council vote. In Miami, meanwhile, mobile billboards were deployed to urge Florida senator Marco Rubio to sanction gun reform in the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. In Naples this week, activists used billboards to protest against Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy's anti-immigrant Northern League party. "I said you stink. Now I want your vote. Why not, Southerners?" read the billboards. In a similar vein, activists in Malta used red placards to decry the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a prominent anti-corruption blogger. Billboards have also been erected in County Galway to congratulate McDonagh on the success of his film – in Gaelic. The placards said the London-born director, who has Irish parents, was both a "big star of Hollywood" and a "big star of Leitir Mealláin", a village in Connemara. Earlier this month, Three Billboards star Frances McDormand devoted part of an awards ceremony acceptance speech to saluting the various initiatives. "I appreciate a well-organised act of civil disobedience, and I am thrilled that activists all over the world have been inspired by the set decoration of the Three Billboards in Martin's film," she said at the Bafta Film Awards in London.
