Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid’s split has shocked us all – so we can only imagine how their nearest and dearest are feeling.
The two stars have confirmed they have broken up after two years together, with fans knowing something was up when Zayn, 25, unfollowed both Gigi and her mother Yolanda Hadid.
And considering Yolanda loved nothing more than to post pictures and praise of her would-be son-in-law, she was bound to speak up after the news went public.
The 54-year-old took to Instagram to share a cryptic post of life advice, writing: ‘And so it is……. #Life.’
The image read: ‘The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change.
‘The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open.’
Hmm, that sounds like a mention-your-daughter’s-break-up-but-don’t-be-too-obvious post to us.
After this, Yolanda shared a picture of Gigi, 22, modelling her new sunglasses range, writing: ‘Congratulations my love on your new Vogue Eyewear collection…… @gigihadid @vogueeyewear #ProudMommy.’
Zayn and Gigi both released short statements on their Twitter accounts confirming their relationship had ended.
Gigi tweeted: ‘Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience over a few years… not only in the relationship, but in life in general.
‘I’m forever grateful for the love, time and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be.’

And Pillowtalk singer Zayn wrote: ‘Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.
‘She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all.’
