Katie Piper revealed her three-year-old daughter has begun questioning the scars on her face and body, caused by an acid attack in 2008.
The 34-year-old said her eldest, Belle, began asking her questions after noticing her hospital appointments.
‘She mainly asks about my hands,’ the inspirational star told Love Sunday magazine. ‘I just tell her I was burnt when I was younger, it did hurt, but it doesn’t now.
‘All she really says is “Be careful of your other hand” when I’m near the oven. But if she asks how I was burnt, I’ll tell her the truth.’
Katie was attacked at 24 years old when her ex Danny Lynch paid Stefan Sylvestre to throw sulphuric acid in her face on the street.
The attack left her with permanent scarring to her face, neck, chest arms and hands, and partially blinded. She has since had over 300 surgeries.
Katie met her husband Richard Sutton four years after the attack, and tied the knot in November 2015. The couple welcomed their daughter Belle in March 2014 and their second daughter Penelope in December 2017.
The activist took to Instagram before Christmas to share the most adorable introductory picture of her newborn holding her hand.
‘We’ve been blessed with the safe arrival of a baby girl. Our family is now complete,’ she wrote in the caption for the image that also features Katie’s whopper of a wedding ring.
It was reported last year that Katie Piper would be played by Lydia Hearst in new film Beautiful after she sold the rights to her memoir, according to Variety.
She now runs her own charity, the Katie Piper Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness about the plight of burn victims and others with disfigurement injuries, and she has released a number of books including a recent self-help tome Confidence: The Secret.
